Charles Louis Zito’s life has been defined by overcoming adversity — from undiagnosed learning disorders and bullying, to career-ending health challenges, and a late-onset diagnosis of Tourette’s syndrome. Through it all, his resilience and determination proved no obstacle is too great when you refuse to give up.

Growing up in New York, Zito struggled with learning disabilities long before they were understood. “Back then, nobody knew what learning disabilities were,” he recalls. “They just thought something was wrong with you.” Despite a high IQ, he was labeled as mentally deficient, teased, and bullied. Yet he pushed forward, embracing the mindset: “If you want something bad enough, you’ll never stop trying until you get it — and once you do, you keep going.”

At 15, his family moved to Virginia and life improved, but challenges remained. At 52, Tourette’s syndrome ended his 45-year white collar career overnight. Most would have been crushed, but Zito dug deeper: “Tourette’s didn’t take my creativity — it made it stronger.”

Years of notes and ideas became his first book, Corporate America Can Kiss My Ass — a fearless critique of toxic workplace culture.  To quote from the book "To err is human, to really screw it up requires the assistance of a manager!"

Then came Car Tunes & Other Words That Don’t Make Sense, a laugh-out-loud collection of visual puns and wordplay. Most recently, The Madcap Adventures of Nate Gingvoot: Attack of the Smoked Oyster Twins brought to life a surreal cartoon universe filled with running gags, absurd characters, and unexpected twists.

These works share a common thread: persistence. “They laughed at me, said I was wasting my time, told me it would never happen. But I kept going — and I was right.”

Zito’s creativity is fueled by adversity, not hindered by it. His wife Pamela, who also has Tourette’s, shares that resilience, and their bond is strengthened by mutual understanding. Alongside them is Penny, their beloved chihuahua —and Ambrosia the huge 21 pound cat who both  bring Charles and Pamela a constant source of joy.

“I’ve always been the type to look adversity in the face and laugh at it,” Zito says. His story proves that creativity has no expiration date, and humor can carry you through the toughest storms.

Explore Zito’s world — whether you crave sharp humor, absurd wordplay, or a wild cartoon adventure, his books promise to leave you laughing and inspired.
